瑞巌寺
Zuigenji
2025年10月宮城県松島町の瑞巌寺に行って来ました。
瑞巌寺は正式名称を「松島青龍山瑞巌円福禅寺」といい、現在は臨済宗妙心寺派に属する禅宗寺院です。
松島の瑞巌寺の主なご利益は、学業成就と心願成就です。これは、寺院の本堂が豪華絢爛な装飾が施されており、受験生や願いを持つ人々が訪れることが多いためです。

理由:豪華な本堂内部が、学業や願い事を成就させる力を与えるとされています。
In October 2025, I visited Zuiganji Temple in Matsushima Town, Miyagi Prefecture.
Zuiganji Temple’s official name is “Matsushima Seiryuzan Zuigan Enpuku Zenji Temple,” and it is currently a Zen temple belonging to the Myoshinji school of the Rinzai sect of Buddhism.
The main benefits of Matsushima’s Zuiganji Temple are academic success and the fulfillment of wishes. This is because the temple’s main hall is lavishly decorated and is often visited by students taking exams and people with wishes.
Benefits: Academic success, wish fulfillment
Reason: The luxurious interior of the main hall is said to grant the power to achieve academic success and wishes.
五大堂
Godaido
宮城県松島町五大堂
松島のシンボル・五大堂は、大同年中（807～809）坂上田村麻呂が東征のとき、毘沙門堂を建立し、後に慈覚大師円仁が五大明王像を安置したことから、五大堂と呼ばれるようになりました。
現在の建物は、 伊達政宗が慶長9年（1604）に再建したもので、東北地方現存最古の桃山建築です。堂四面の蟇股には方位に従って十二支の彫刻が施されています。
秘仏とされる五大明王像は、五代藩主吉村が500年ぶりにご開帳した1700年代以降、33年に一度ずづご開帳されるようになりました。
伝説では、 慈覚大師円仁が、五大明王像を安置したところ坂上田村麻呂が祀った毘沙門天は、ある夜、光を発して沖合いの小島に飛び去り、 その島は毘沙門島といわれるようになったそうです。
Godaido Hall, Matsushima Town, Miyagi Prefecture
The Godaido Hall, a symbol of Matsushima, was originally built by Sakanoue no Tamuramaro during his eastern expedition during the Daido era (807-809). Later, Jikaku Daishi Ennin enshrined the Five Great Wisdom Kings statues there, hence the name.
The current building was rebuilt by Date Masamune in 1604 and is the oldest surviving Momoyama-era building in the Tohoku region. The four sides of the hall are carved with the twelve zodiac signs, aligned with the cardinal directions.
The Five Great Wisdom Kings, considered a secret Buddha statue, have been open to the public for the first time in 500 years since the 1700s, when the fifth feudal lord, Yoshimura, opened them to the public every 33 years.
According to legend, when Ennin, the founder of the Buddhist sect of Jikaku Daishi, enshrined the statues of the Five Great Wisdom Kings, Bishamonten, who was enshrined by Sakanoue no Tamuramaro, one night emitted a light and flew away to a small island offshore, which came to be called Bishamon Island.
