アートキルト教室を「アート名古屋 school」のキルト部門で教室を開催いたしました。
＜キルト作品を芸術として表現する＞
キルティングされた芸術作品は、一般に、ステッチによって一緒に保持された2層の布として定義 されます。
ほとんどの場合、ポリエステル、綿、ウール、またはシルクで作られた中間の中綿層も組み込まれています。

キルトは伝統的なキルティング技術に端を発していますが、キルトのアーティストは現在、
絵画、染色、スタンピング、つなぎ合わせ、コラージュ、印刷(多くの場合、布に印刷された写真を組み込む)、アップリケ、 その他の複雑な布のプロセスなどを 使用しています。

Art Quilt “Creative Quilt”

【ナイトグレートハーバー】
画家 伊藤氏の描いたカリブ海の絵 「ナイトグレートハーバー」 の作品に出合い魅了されました。その作品をキルトで表現したい、作りたいという強い思いを伝え快く承諾していただきました。
作品が完成するまでには大変難しく約三年という時間を要す事となりました。
この「ナイトグレートハーバー」はアート作品として世界最大級のキルトコンテスト、ヒューストン国際キルト展で入選いたしました。
＜Night Great Harbor＞
I was fascinated by the Caribbean painting ``Night Great Harbor'' by artist Mr. Ito. I expressed my strong desire to express this work in a quilt, and she gladly agreed.
The work was extremely difficult and took about three years to complete.
This "Night Great Harbor" was selected as an artwork at the Houston International Quilt Exhibition, one of the world's largest quilt contests.

創作キルト（アートキルト）
創作キルトは作家の独創的な感覚や自由な表現を重視したアート作品であり、従来のキルト（トラディショナル）が持つ「特定の技法・パターン（様式）」に縛られない点が最大の違いです。創作キルトは自由な発想で制作される一方、伝統的なキルトは歴史的なパターンや技法を重視します。
1. 創作キルト (Creative/Art Quilt)
特徴: 技法や構成が自由。緻密な製図よりも感覚で縫い進めることが多い。
目的: 自己表現、芸術作品としての展示、アート性。
素材・手法: 制限がなく、アップリケ、刺しゅう、異素材のミックスなど多様な手法が用いられる。
2. キルト (Traditional/General Quilt)
特徴: パッチワークやハワイアンキルトなど、特定の伝統的なパターン（型）が存在する。
目的: 実用性（寝具や装飾）、伝統技法の継承。
素材・手法: 3層（表地・綿・裏地）を縫い合わせるという基本技法に基づいて制作される。
つまり、創作キルトは「表現」を主軸にした現代的なアートであり、キルトは「様式と実用性」を継承する手芸（クラフト）という違いがあります。創作キルトを日本の芸術団体で初めて参加を受け入れられたことに感謝するとともに日本の創作キルトアートの発展に力を尽くしたいと思います。
Creative Quilts (Art Quilts)
Creative quilts are art pieces that emphasize the artist's original sensibility and free expression, and the biggest difference is that they are not bound by the "specific techniques and patterns (styles)" of traditional quilts. Creative quilts are created with free ideas, while traditional quilts emphasize historical patterns and techniques.
1. Creative Quilts (Creative/Art Quilt)
Characteristics: Freedom in techniques and composition. Often sewn by feel rather than by meticulous pattern making.
Purpose: Self-expression, exhibition as an art piece, artistic merit.
Materials/Techniques: No restrictions; diverse techniques such as appliqué, embroidery, and mixing of different materials are used.
2. Traditional Quilts (General Quilt)
Characteristics: Specific traditional patterns (styles) exist, such as patchwork and Hawaiian quilts.
Purpose: Practicality (bedding and decoration), preservation of traditional techniques.
Materials and Techniques: Created using the basic technique of sewing together three layers (outer fabric, cotton, and lining).
In short, creative quilts are a modern art form centered on "expression," while traditional quilts are a craft that inherits "style and practicality." I am grateful that my creative quilt was accepted for the first time by a Japanese arts organization, and I would like to contribute to the development of creative quilt art in Japan.
